Nuri Sahin

Nuri Sahin, born on 5 September 1988 in Lüdenscheid, is the new head coach of BVB starting from the 2024/25 season. He signed a contract in June 2024 that expires on 30 June 2027. Sahin, a central midfielder, played 274 competitive games and scored 26 goals for Borussia Dortmund. With BVB he won the Bundesliga in 2011 and the DFB Cup in 2017. Sahin’s playing career also included spells at Feyenoord, Real Madrid, Liverpool and Antalyaspor.

From 2021 to 2023, Sahin was head coach of Turkish Süper Lig club Antalyaspor. In January 2024 he returned to Dortmund as an assistant coach and helped the team reach the UEFA Champions League final.

Lars Ricken, Managing Director for Sport, said: “We are delighted to appoint a coach who represents the younger generation in Nuri Sahin. He has worked very hard in recent years to prepare for a career as a coach, and he will show great dedication in his new position and help the team progress. Nuri knows the club and its staff, and BVB is in his DNA as a player and as an assistant coach. We have no doubt that Nuri is the right head coach for us.”
