The game was characterised above all by a high tempo, which meant that there was little in the way of prolonged build-up play. However, the Norwegian hosts were the ones who made fewer mistakes in this phase and pulled 7-4 ahead after seven minutes. Sola's pivots in particular caused problems for Dortmund's defence.<\/p>\n<p>BVB then had a good spell and reduced the deficit to one goal, but Henk Groener was forced to call a timeout after 16 minutes with his team trailing 12-8. The Norwegian's 40-year-old goalkeeper from Brazil repeatedly saved BVB's shots, which put the pressure on Sarah Wachter down the other end, who made four saves up to the 20th minute. However, the German goalkeeper was unlucky to concede the goal to make it 14-9, as the ball bounced off the underside of the crossbar onto her back and into the net.<\/p>\n<p>BVB's top scorer with nine goals, Dana Bleckmann, started a short run that brought Borussia back to within two goals. But time and again, mistakes crept into Borussia's attacking play. It was not like Sola were playing particularly well at this point, and they offered BVB chances to close the gap or equalise.<\/p>\n<p>The second period got off to a perfect start for Dortmund: Kelly Vollebregt and Carmen Campos Costa capitalised on an early period with a one-player advantage and reduced the deficit to 18-17. The game was now completely open, but Borussia kept being held to this one-goal deficit and were unable to turn the game in their favour. A spell where the home side had two extra players threatened to turn into a decisive turning point, but the Black &amp; Yellows did well to hang in there.<\/p>\n<p>Henk Groener rallied his team ten minutes before the end at 27-25 and gave them renewed motivation. The game reached its dramatic crescendo two minutes before the end. Deborah Lassource broke through and netted the long-awaited equaliser at 31-31. But her foot had stepped into the circle and so her team continued to trail on the scoreboard - and failed to score in what remained of the game.<\/p>\n<p><b>Reactions:<\/b> Henk Groener:&nbsp;&quot;We struggled a lot defensively in the first half. Things worked better in the second half. In the end, we didn't manage to get the better of Sola in the decisive phases.
