Holiday Trips – Trip Checklist
"Sunset, casting a unique spell over the beach – now quickly snap a memory photo - but the camera is lying back home on the kitchen table. Each of us has likely been in a similar situation before. Sunscreen or a film can easily be obtained at the holiday destination. However, the forgotten items are not always so easy to organize on-site, or one may have to pay a lot of money for them, which can be frustrating. Our checklist helps you remember everything, so you can approach your holiday preparations with ease."
Immediately after booking or at least four weeks before departure
- Check travel cancellation insurance
- Consultation for vaccinations, review vaccination protection, and refresh if necessary
- Possibly schedule a dentist appointment before the trip
- Check and renew identification papers and documents if necessary Check and obtain entry formalities (possibly also for pets)
- Check insurance coverage for abroad and, if necessary, take out foreign health insurance or apply for a foreign health insurance certificate
- Car breakdown cover, car inspection
- Possibly obtain travel guides, road maps, and dictionaries
- Do you need a vignette?
- Order prescriptions for regularly needed medications
- Order foreign currency, traveler's checks, credit cards
- Organize care for pets
Two Weeks before Departure
- Check wardrobe and possibly supplement it
- Possibly get books to read
- Purchase movies, batteries for cameras, watches, etc.
- Copy travel documents and documents
- Ask neighbors or acquaintances to regularly check the apartment (e.g., mail, flowers)
- Create a list of phone numbers where you can be reached for those staying at home
- Create an address list for postcards from vacation
- Cancel or forward newspaper delivery
- Calculate time difference and consider it for regular medication intake
Immediately before departure
- Empty the refrigerator
- Secure valuables - Turn off electrical devices completely (TV, radio, etc.)
- Arrange for the care of the car during absence
- Turn on the answering machine (without vacation message!)
- Turn off or set the heating to "vacation" mode
- Close doors and windows - Take care of plants, pets
- Leave keys with a trusted person Leave a list of phone numbers, departure and arrival times with a trusted person
- Take tickets, passport, driver's license, travel documents
