BVB Founders' Church: site inspection and opening of welcome tent

The remodelling of Dortmund's Dreifaltigkeitskirche (Holy Trinity Church) for the BVB Gründerkirche (Founders' Church) project continues to make great strides. During a recent site inspection, members of the parish council and church board, together with Paderborn Vicar Dr. Michael Bredeck and Thomas Klöter, Head of Pastoral Services at the Archbishop's General Vicariate, were informed about the current status of the project. Representatives of the BVB Gründerkirche project's cooperation partners were also present.

"The welcome tent is a friendly place where people from the local area, BVB fans and other interested parties can come together to exchange ideas, gain new inspiration and experience Dortmund's unique blend of football culture and social engagement," explains project manager Karsten Haug.

Black & Yellow programme throughout the summer

Once again this year, there will be a varied programme for all generations and all BVB fans.

Bike tour "Fahr mit Franz" to Black & Yellow locations in Dortmund on 19 July (10:09 CEST)
Ecumenical BVB season-opening service with Prof. Dr Aladin El-Mafaalani on 21 August (19:09 CEST)
Beer tasting with the Dortmund Bieragentur on 22 August (19:00 CEST) on the theme of "Holy Beers"

The tent also offers many other pastoral, intercultural and social events. The BVB Gründerkirche (Founders' Church) is scheduled for completion in 2026.

Prior to that, in December 2024, a BVB delegation were welcomed to Pittsburgh for a Steelers home game at Acrisure Stadium. The visit included jersey swaps, content collaborations, and the requisite tailgating alongside former BVB pro Patrick Owomoyela, a long-time Steelers fan, who also had the opportunity to link up with Super Bowl MVP Santonio Holmes. It was BVB\u2019s first official visit to the stadium since its 2018 USA Summer Tour. <\/p>\n\u201cI was blown away by my experience at Dortmund,\u201d said Killebrew. \u201cFrom the minute we arrived at Signal Iduna Park, it was clear to me how special an organization BVB is. From the \u2018Yellow Wall\u2019, to the atmosphere and the fans, it was a memorable day for me and I look forward to returning someday. It will be exciting to see the relationship between the Steelers and BVB grow in the future.\u201d<\/p>\nIn 2024, the Steelers received a license for Germany from the NFL as part of the league\u2019s Global Markets Program, allowing the club to partake in, among other things, partnerships and on-the-ground activities throughout the country of Germany.
