The Black & Yellow schedule for March
Saturday 1 March (15:30 CET): FC St. Pauli vs. BVB
The Borussia Dortmund first-team squad will kick off March with an away game at the Millerntor. Borussia beat St. Pauli 2-1 on home turf in the reverse fixture, with Ramy Bensebaini and Serhou Guirassy scoring the Dortmund goals. The promoted outfit from Hamburg are currently 15th in the table with 21 points from 23 games, which puts them six points ahead of the relegation play-off place. St. Pauli have lost each of their last three matches against Mainz (2-0), Freiburg (1-0) and Leipzig (2-0).
Saturday 1 March (19:00 CET): HB Ludwigsburg vs. BVB women's handballers
Borussia Dortmund's women's handball players are back in the final stage of the DHB-Pokal for the first time in eight years: The Borussia women will compete in the Final4 in Stuttgart on the first weekend of March. Coach Henk Groener's team will be up against perennial rivals HB Ludwigsburg in the semi-finals on Saturday (read the preview). If they beat the reigning German champions, the Black & Yellows will face the winner of the match between HSG Bensheim/Auerbach and HSG Blomberg-Lippe on the following day – if they lose, they will compete for third place.
Tuesday 4 March (21:00 CET): BVB vs. OSC Lille
BVB's opponents in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 will be OSC Lille, with Borussia Dortmund on home turf in the first leg. The French outfit are competing at Europe's top table for the eighth time and finished the league phase in seventh position following five wins, one draw and two defeats. The team, which includes former Borussia player Thomas Meunier and youngster Ethan Mbappé (18), beat Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid, among others, in the league phase of the elite continental club competition, but lost away to Sporting CP.
Saturday 8 March (15:30 CET): BVB vs. FC Augsburg
FC Augsburg will be the next visitors to SIGNAL IDUNA PARK. FCA are currently in 11th place in the table with an even record: the Bavarians have won eight, lost eight and drawn seven of their 23 matches to date. Coach Jess Thorup's team have only lost two of their nine competitive matches this calendar year – both defeats came against VfB Stuttgart (1-0 in the Bundesliga and 1-0 in the DFB-Pokal quarter-finals). Borussia lost the reverse fixture in Augsburg 2-1 at the end of October, with Donyell Malen finding the back of the net for BVB.
Wednesday 12 March (18:45 CET): OSC Lille vs. BVB
BVB's possible progression to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League will be determined in mid-March. After playing the first leg at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK, Borussia Dortmund will have to contest the return fixture at the Decathlon Arena in Lille, France, which seats 50,083 spectators. A victory over LOSC would ensure the Black & Yellows' 11th appearance in a UEFA Champions League quarter-final. Last season, BVB beat Dutch outfit PSV Eindhoven in the round of 16, winning on home turf (2-0) and drawing away from home (1-1).
Saturday 15 March (18:30 CET): Leipzig vs. BVB
BVB will be involved in the game of the round on Bundesliga Matchday 26: Borussia will kick off away to Leipzig at 18:30 CET. Dortmund beat the Saxons 2-1 at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK in the reverse fixture, having previously trailed 1-0. Maximilian Beier restored parity at 1-1 with his first goal for Borussia Dortmund. And the striker was then also involved in the winning goal in the form of an assist: Beier laid the ball off to Serhou Guirassy, who got the better of two Leipzig players in the middle and headed home to make it 2-1.
Saturday 29 March (18:00 CET): BVB table tennis team vs. Borussia Düsseldorf
The Borussia Dortmund table tennis team's first season in the German top flight is drawing to a close. In their final match of the Bundesliga season, Borussia will welcome reigning German champions and cup winners Borussia Düsseldorf to the Brügmann-Sporthalle at the end of March. The match against the Düsseldorf outfit, who have global star and BVB fan Timo Boll in their ranks, will be played in front of over 1,000 spectators and is already sold-out. Borussia Dortmund are fighting to stay in the division in their first season in the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL); as of the start of March, the team occupies ninth place with a 14-22 points tally and – with four games still to play – has a four-point cushion over the relegation zone.
Sunday 30 March (17:30 CET): BVB vs. 1. FSV Mainz 05
Borussia Dortmund's first team will finish off March with a home game against 1. FSV Mainz 05. The last time Mainz visited SIGNAL IDUNA PARK in December 2023 the game ended 1-1, with Julian Brandt giving the team a 1-0 lead. Coach Bo Henriksen's team have had a strong season so far, beating league leaders Bayern Munich (2-1) in December, among other standout results. BVB suffered a 3-1 defeat in the reverse fixture in Mainz.
