Post-Match Report

Reactions: "We will achieve the turnaround!"

The first reactions to the 2-2 draw with Werder Bremen from Managing Director Lars Ricken, interim coach Mike Tullberg, captain Emre Can, all-rounder Pascal Groß and goalkeeper Gregor Kobel, who declared: "We put in a super passionate performance."

Lars Ricken (in the mixed zone): "Given the situation, it would have been good to win today, especially since we led 2-0. We started the game really well and gave nothing away, but then Nmecha sustained an injury and then came the red card. Nonetheless, we deserved to take a 2-0 lead. The players gave their all and that should be taken into account when assessing the performance. The coach also got through to them in that regard. He didn't overload them with tactical things."

Mike Tullberg (at the press conference): "In the few days I've had the lads for, we've worked on a few points. One was body language, passion and defending courageously on the front foot. The team did everything in the first 20 minutes. Then we got the red card and the lads kept driving forward anyway. They didn't do everything right, but they left everything on the pitch. I'm more positive than negative after the game. We were outnumbered for 70 minutes and still got a point."

Pascal Groß (on BVB TV): "It feels like two points dropped when you're 2-0 ahead. You have to see it over the line together with the fans. We were then no longer able to counter in the same way and conceded a goal back through a stunning strike. The goal for 2-2 is bitter. Mike Tullberg was very positive, full of energy and tried to give us a simple and clear plan. He prepared the team well."

test

Emre Can (to Sky): "We fought, we were present. But when you're 2-0 up, you have to somehow manage to see the game through, even if you're outnumbered. But you can't really reproach us. The game got off to the worst-possible start for us. But we can't feel sorry for ourselves. We have to get through it. We brought this negative run on ourselves. Mike (editor's note: Tullberg) did a good job and gave us a lot of energy; that's his strength. He's done a great job in this short space of time. We will achieve the turnaround."

test

Gregor Kobel (in the mixed zone): "It's a great shame that we didn't manage to win. We put in a super passionate performance, and did so with a player fewer for 70 minutes. We would've deserved more. Up until the first conceded goal, we completely controlled the match while a man down. Bittencourt striking the ball like that, into the top corner, and bringing them back into the game can happen. Mike Tullberg injected super energy; he comes across as very self-confident and not as someone coming from the youth setup. It feels really shi... when you look at the table. It's brutal. We've put ourselves at a huge deficit which we now need to work our way out of. We now need to start winning games."
