Match Report
BVB women triumph over Rahm in the Kreispokal
Dortmund coach Thomas Sulewski took the opportunity to completely replace his starting XI in the match against the Kreisliga club and also added six players from the second team to his squad. Lea Auffenberg and Chloe Campbell played from the start.
Sarah Giebels opened the scoring in the seventh minute after Angelina Weber played a low cross for her from the left. Giebels was the evening's top scorer with a total of six goals. Kimberly Becker increased the lead to 2-0 in the 11th minute before Weber scored her first goal of the evening (14). Shortly afterwards, Hannah Geldschläger scored another for the Black & Yellows (18th). However, she injured herself in the process and had to leave the pitch. Nelly Doronin then came on as a substitute. Mia Bedarf then got her name on the scoresheet in the 20th minute. Shortly afterwards, Giebels scored her third (25) and fourth goals (30). Weber made it 8-0 in the 32nd minute and Giebels scored three more goals before half-time (38, 39, 42). In the meantime, Ana Haslsteiner also scored to make it 11-0 (40). The visitors went into the half-time break with a 12-0 lead.
Dortmund did not let up at all after the break. Coach Sulewski made four changes at the break: Charlotte Weber, Christin Schweissinger, Klara Junker and Mandy Reinhardt came on for Mia Bedarf, Angelina Weber, Sarah Giebels and Lea Auffenberg. Nora Willeke scored a brace in the space of a few minutes to extend the lead to 14-0 (51, 53). Shortly afterwards, substitute Christin Schweissinger was fouled in the penalty area and confidently converted the resulting penalty to make it 15-0, while Chloe Campbell also celebrated her first goal for Sulewski's team (63). Willeke went one better in the 66th minute, scoring her third goal. It was Becker who then bagged her brace in the 68th minute. Klara Junker, who had also come on as a half-time substitute, made it 19-0 (74). Mandy Reinhardt was also among the scorers of the evening: she netted in the 76th minute. Schweissinger then scored her second goal in the 82nd minute to make it 21-0. It was a very quiet evening for Lena Kölmel in the BVB goal, as the game took place almost exclusively in and around the Rahm penalty area. The 21-0 home win secured the BVB women a place in the quarter-finals of the Kreispokal.
This weekend, however, the action continues in the Westfalenliga: on Sunday at 15:00 CET, the Borussia women will host FC Iserlohn in a top of the table clash. FC Iserlohn are currently in third place in the table and have already taken points off the BVB women on the opening day of the season. Fans can look forward to a colourful supporting programme to accompany the big game at the Rote Erde stadium.
