Pre-Match Report

Reactions: "The victory shows that we stand together"

"The victory was very, very important for the path we're taking," said Nuri Sahin following the 2-1 win over Leipzig, which they "completely dominated from the first moment," according to Sebastian Kehl. The match reactions.

Nuri Sahin (to Sky): "The boys did a really good job and produced a top performance not only in terms of fighting spirit but on a footballing level too. That's how you envisage it. It was our best game of the season over 90 minutes. The victory was very, very important for the path we're taking. We've already had halves – here in our stadium but also away in Madrid – in which we did well. Because we had so many injury absentees, we could only train for half an hour yesterday and then did a tactical session afterwards. There I had the feeling that the lads understood it, they now simply have to show it on the pitch. The way they sacrificed themselves today, how courageously they played, that was very, very good. I understand the criticism, apart from the stuff which is below the belt. I accept everything that is related to football. When I signed the contract here, I knew I would be in the spotlight."

test

Sebastian Kehl (in the mixed zone): "I have no doubts about this team and we still had a lot of quality, speed, experience and cleverness on the pitch in our first 11. It was brilliant in terms of willingness, desire and passion. It shows that we stand together. Victories help to bring in a sense of calm because we have to achieve our objectives. The victory does us good because it came against a team that had not lost 19 matches in succession. We completely dominated them from the first moment."

Nico Schlotterbeck (to BVB TV): "We're brutally good at home this season and did not allow any spell of pressure at the end. We played the way Borussia Dortmund want to play: going forward actively. The young players who came in did great. And that's how you win against Leipzig, highly deservedly."

test

Ayman Azhil (to BVB TV): "Nuri told me: You've been working towards this moment your whole life. Go for it. It was demanding, but it was fun. That was one of the best Saturday evenings of my life. It went like a dream. I'll happily take it."
