Borussia Dortmund Fan Council

he Fan Council of Borussia Dortmund defines itself and acts as the representative body for all fans of BVB who identify with the values of Borussia Dortmund. In order to fulfill this task, the Fan Council aims not only to serve as a communicative link between the KGaA, the e.V., and the fans, but also to network individual fan clubs, fan institutions, and other groups within the fan scene. Therefore, it consists of both appointed members and those elected by fan club representatives at the Fan Delegates Conference.

To adequately represent the interests of BVB fans and serve as their voice internally, the Fan Council brings together fan-relevant groups and institutions within the body. One of the main goals of the Fan Council's work is to maintain BVB as a fan-centric club and to facilitate communication between all partners on an equal footing. In addition to this goal, the Fan Council can also be involved as a mediator in conflict situations. Its constant endeavor is to improve the external representation of BVB fans.

Values of the Fan Council

The Fan Council strives to create equal treatment among all fans. Each member of the Fan Council commits to a discrimination-free fan culture that is open to all people and advocates for inclusion. Therefore, it works against all forms of discrimination.

Interaction among Fan Council Members

To achieve its goals and uphold its values, the Fan Council establishes its own rules for mutual interaction and decision-making. All members of the Fan Council commit to respectful, trusting, and honest interactions with one another. This includes being open to the opinions of others and accepting divergent viewpoints, thereby enabling critical questioning and facilitating the path to finding common solutions.

Fan Council and Fan Culture

The open, diverse, free, and self-determined fan culture represented by the Fan Council is committed to tradition and is based on non-violence and solidarity. Committed to tradition, the Fan Council defines a football and fan culture that operates creatively and heterogeneously regardless of sporting success and critically examines current phenomena when necessary. Therefore, the Fan Council critically questions, for example, the commercialization of football and advocates for maintaining socially acceptable ticket prices and standing culture in stadiums. The Fan Council seeks to support and preserve this fan culture.

The Fan Council within the Fan Community

Of particular interest to the Fan Council is representing the interests of all BVB fans based on the stated values and at the expense of individual interests of its members. However, the Fan Council solely serves as a body in which individual members represent their fan organizations and by no means replaces the work of individual members and groups outside the Fan Council. It maintains information exchange with other fan bodies and regularly publishes its decisions and meeting contents.

The Fan Council and Borussia Dortmund

The Fan Council is not an organ or body of the club or KGaA, but, as stated at the outset, sees itself as a communicative link. Involvement of fans at BVB can occur through the Fan Council, whose members are always available as contacts. The Fan Council aims to maintain its constructive critical stance and to always serve in an advisory capacity. The cooperation between the Fan Council and Borussia Dortmund should be constructive and solution-oriented.

To jointly develop and address various issues, Fan Council members propose the establishment of working groups where representatives from Borussia Dortmund and the Fan Council develop proposals that are subsequently presented to the Fan Council and BVB. In this way, ideas, suggestions, or criticisms brought forward by fans to the Fan Council or the club can be included in the decision-making process.
