Nico Schlotterbeck nominated for Bundesliga Player of the Month
Quite a few people were rubbing their eyes in disbelief when Nico Schlotterbeck stepped up to take the corners against FSV Mainz 05. But 90 minutes and two assists from corner-kicks later, it was clear why the centre-back had been selected as the taker. Schlotterbeck not only shone in attack, however; he also impressed with his core business: defending. Not just in the match against Mainz but also in the other games in March, meaning that Schlotterbeck, who is unfortunately now injured, is among the nominees for Player of the Month.
Nadiem Amiri (Mainz), Michael Olise (Bayern), Xavi Simons (Leipzig), Robin Hack (Mönchengladbach) and Nordi Mukiele (Leverkusen) have also been nominated for March 2025.
The votes of the fans carry a weighting of 40%, while the team captains of the clubs and an expert panel consisting of Bundesliga legends and media partners contributes 30% each to the final result. The award is presented by the German Football League (DFL) in cooperation with EA Sports.
