The 18-year-old defender has been at Borussia Dortmund since July 2019. He was promoted to the first-team squad in the summer of 2024.

Almugera Kabar grew up in Sauerland. His first club was SV Hüsten 09, before later moving a few kilometres closer to the Ruhr region to join Hammer Spielvereinigung, where he stayed until he was 12. Shortly after his 13th birthday, the talented player moved to the Borussia Dortmund youth setup.

He was deployed in the U19s in the 2023/24 season and made 22 appearances (two goals, one assist). He took over the captain’s armband ahead of the new season and was also promoted to the first-team set-up during pre-season following convincing performances in training and friendly fixtures. During the summer training camp, managing director Lars Ricken explained: “After we let Tom Rothe go, we decided that we would not only have Almugera Kabar join us for the game but that he would now stay with us too. It is a courageous decision, a courageous solution, but I believe we must stand by our decision to give the boys this opportunity with us.” The 18-year-old made his competitive debut at adult level in the 3. Liga on the third matchday of the 2024/25 season, as the U23s drew 1-1 away to Hansa Rostock.

Kabar won the European Championship title with the U17 national team in 2017, before winning the World Cup six months later. He converted the final spot-kick in the penalty shootout in the final against France.
