Nico Schlotterbeck is the Bundesliga Player of the Month for March
Schlotterbeck, who tore his meniscus at the beginning of April and will be unavailable to Borussia Dortmund for several months more, played the full 90 minutes in all four of BVB's Bundesliga matches in March (two wins, two defeats). In the 3-1 victory over FSV Mainz 05, the centre-back took responsibility for the corner-kicks and delivered two assists. Across the four games, Schlotterbeck also won 23 challenges, 10 aerial duels and, of course, showed his tireless commitment to the Black & Yellows.
The Borussia player beat off competition from Nadiem Amiri (Mainz), Michael Olise (Munich), Xavi Simons (Leipzig), Robin Hack (Mönchengladbach) and Nordi Mukiele (Leverkusen). In February, BVB striker Serhou Guirassy brought the award to Dortmund for the first time this season.
The votes of the fans carry a weighting of 40%, while the team captains of the clubs and an expert panel of Bundesliga legends and media partners each contribute 30% to the final result. The award is presented by the German Football League (DFL) in co-operation with EA Sports.
