Schlotterbeck's first corners

Nico Schlotterbeck took corners for the first time in his Bundesliga career in the home game against Mainz 05 on Sunday. Two of them led to the goals that made it 2-0 and 3-0.

His second corner set up Emre Can for the goal that made it 2-0 in the 42nd minute. Thirty minutes later, Maxi Beier headed another Schlotterbeck corner into the net for 3-0. It was the first time in his career that Nico Schlotterbeck has directly assisted two goals in one match.

The 25-year-old additionally registered four shots at goal (only Karim Adeyemi and Beier had as many). He also had the most phases of possession of any BVB player (81) and won a good 63% of his challenges. The only downer was that Schlotterbeck received his fifth booking and is therefore suspended for the next match in Freiburg. (br)
