BVB to face Sporting in the play-off round

Borussia Dortmund will face Sporting C.P. in the play-offs for the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League. The first leg will take place on 11 or 12 February in Lisbon, the second leg on 18 or 19 February at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK. Advance tickets for members go on sale next Tuesday (4 February).

Borussia Dortmund finished the league phase in tenth place and, as per the tournament tree, would face one of the two teams that finished 23rd (Sporting) and 24th (Brugge) in the round of 16 play-off. The result of the draw was that BVB are positioned on the right-hand side of the tournament tree, as are play-off opponents Sporting.

Portugal's runaway league leaders, Sporting finished the league phase with an even record (three wins, two draws, three defeats). A dream start with a 2-0 win against Lille, a 1-1 draw in Eindhoven, a 2-0 win in Graz and a 4-1 victory over Manchester City were followed by a 5-1 defeat against Arsenal, a 2-1 loss in Bruges, a 2-1 loss in Leipzig and, most recently, a 1-1 draw with Bologna.

Advance ticket sales to club members for the home match on 18/19 February will start at 12:00 CET on Tuesday, 4 February 2025. Members of Borussia Dortmund can purchase up to four tickets for the play-off second leg. UEFA will announce the exact fixtures later today (Friday).
