Post-Match Report
Ricken: "Discuss tomorrow what's best"
Lars Ricken (to Prime): "Against an opponent that plays more or less one on one across the entire pitch, it's a case of sink or swim. Win your challenge or don't win it. Nonetheless, there's no need to lose the match because of that. It was two individual errors and a deserved defeat. In the Champions League, you sometimes have to win a game 1-0 without any frills. Then we would now be third or fourth. We once again did not manage to do that. We didn't put up enough of a fight and created too few chances for ourselves. In the first half, you already had the feeling that it was just a matter of time until the equaliser came. My expectation after Frankfurt was clear: we need results, we need victories. Now we have nine matches and only one win. I have a good and trusting relationship with Nuri. He has my backing, but my statements naturally stand. I'm not going to make an emotional decision and shoot from the hip now. We'll sit down calmly together tomorrow. We will discuss what's best for Borussia Dortmund."
Nuri Sahin (at the press conference): "A deserved defeat in a game where we knew how it would go: that they were going to press high, man-to-man. We played too many long balls. The way we conceded the goals fits our situation. The plan was definitely not to become passive. If a change of coach solves all the problems, that's not an issue for me at all. I'm responsible for the performance that we produce. The fact is that we've lost four games in a row."
Matthias Sammer (to Prime): "We talked about confidence before the game, and then we took in a 1-0 lead at half-time. It can therefore only be down to confidence to a limited extent. If we adopt an analytical approach, this team is physically and mentally non-existent. They can't defend, but they also can't attack – our last shot on goal was in the 17th minute. The team has no hierarchical structure. Bologna are developing well, but they've only scored one goal in six games so far and scored two today."
