Ryerson to stay with BVB long-term
"Immediately after his signing, Julian became a very important component of our team. That applies both on and off the pitch," said sporting director Sebastian Kehl, who went on to add: "This development was probably not expected by everyone following his transfer in the winter of last year but we knew from the beginning that Julian's dynamism, intensity and hunger for success would fit in excellently with BVB and our virtues. He fully identifies with this club and provides us with various sporting options thanks to his versatile profile. We're very happy to be able to keep Julian with us for the next four years."
Ryerson made the move to the Strobelallee from 1. FC Union Berlin in January 2023 and has since made himself indispensable at both national and international level as a defender and mentality player who can be deployed flexibly on both flanks. In 62 competitive appearances for Borussia Dortmund to date, he has scored five times and set up a further three goals.
"It honestly still feels the same as it did on the first day. I'm still proud and humbled to be part of this club. And now I'm just happy that I can continue to play for Borussia Dortmund. I feel at home here and enjoy every matchday – especially when we're playing at home. That's why I'm at BVB, and I want to have this feeling for as long as possible," said Julian Ryerson.
