Reactions: "This should be the benchmark"

Head coach Nuri Sahin, sports director Sebastian Kehl, captain Emre Can, hat-trick scorer Karim Adeyemi, Felix Nmecha, Gregor Kobel, Pascal Groß and adviser Matthias Sammer spoke about the Champions League game against Celtic Glasgow. Their reactions to the game.

Nuri Sahin (to Prime): "Of course I'm extremely happy, but as of today I can also put the game in Stuttgart into perspective. I'm most happy with how the boys played up top. You score goals like that when you press like that up top. We didn't manage to do that at all in Stuttgart. With that speed and that quality up top, we're hard to beat. That closing down, that will to win the ball, should be the benchmark. We've taken steps in our famous, or infamous, development."

test

Sebastian Kehl (in the mixed zone): "We played a very good game. The first half was mesmerising. The energy that the team brought onto the pitch was noticeable. They were consistently pressing, they didn't get thrown off when Celtic equalised, and they defended strongly up top. All the spectators will be going home with a big smile on their faces. We should allow ourselves that feeling that we can have big wins in this stadium. A game like this is good for all of us. We know how hard it will be on Saturday against Union Berlin. If we perform like that, we'll win at the weekend too, but with anything less, it will be difficult."

Emre Can (to Prime): "There's no such thing as the perfect game, but today it was very, very good. There was a great energy on the pitch. The way we started was strong. That should be the benchmark, that should be our expectation. That's how we should play football. With the penalty I was sure that I was going to score. With the goal we conceded, I was actually trying to clear it, but the ball got away from me. The way we came back was just incredible. The way Karim played, not just today, was brilliant. He's making huge progress, he's playing more maturely, more ambitiously."

test

Gregor Kobel (in the mixed zone): "We played well and got our reward. In the last game we had already had some good moments, especially in the second half. Today we managed to keep it up for nearly the whole game. It's really amazing to win by such a big margin in the Champions League."

Karim Adeyemi (to Prime): "A very special game for me - first hat trick - and also for the team - seven goals. I had big ambitions going into the game, I had a good start, and almost every shot went in. We played a very good game. In the next few games, we need to be on it from the very first minute, stay focused, and make the most of our chances like we did today. Then it'll go well. I had to come off - bit of a thigh issue. I hope it isn't too bad. We'll see what happens tomorrow. Hopefully I'll be back soon."

test

Felix Nmecha (in the mixed zone): "We carried out our matchplan very well. We were calm on the ball and at the same time we had a good change of pace. Karim scored three goals for us, Guirassy scored two - and everything went well for us. The coach pushed us during half-time not to slow down. For me it's a very good feeling to score a goal. We did very well as a team, and I'm happy that I could do my bit. This performance should be our benchmark. We haven't had a game like that for a long time, where we score seven goals."

Pascal Groß (to Prime): "We demonstrated some really good football, our best game of the season, and a well-deserved win. My first Champions League game at home in this stadium was a lot of fun. For us, it's now a question of how consistently we can do it. Our results at home have been good so far. On Saturday we're off to Berlin, and we want to keep this up there too."

test

Matthias Sammer (to Prime): "They set some benchmarks this evening. A structured start, quick changeovers to the fast players up top after winning the ball. Borussia Dortmund were focused throughout almost the entire game. For me, a game like that always sets benchmarks. But in the back of my mind, I'm thinking: Union Berlin on Saturday, reality is going to hit - how will the players deal with that? You can also play badly, but then you have to control it. That's the next step that Borussia Dortmund need to take."
